Jeez, that has to hit records for how busy a court it was. I mean, nothing major happened or anything but it was crowded and completely non-stop!
Had a bunch of new people to the city and one visitor. My mind got completely boggled by two of them. Basically, they are both at least 100yrs old and the only other kindred they met, apart from their sires were each other! They know what their clan is but have never heard of either the Camarilla or the Sabbat or the traditions or anything! Eh, how? To their credit, they seem pretty competent so I don’t think their survival is completely down to luck. Demonstrated by how fast they got stuck into learning about the situation they are in and what they need to know, now. They did well enough that Doyle accepted them without them needing a chaperone.
The other guy who got accepted was a military sapper type who was most recently in Russia. Seems quiet but in a sort of tactical way where he’s checking out the terrain. I bet he’s pretty good at what he says he does.
Viscount Aldworth… no way I’m using the title Prince if I don’t have to… was there too. I avoided him and, surprisingly, he never came anywhere me either. Not even with his usual gloating digs at me. Some weird woman ran in to give him some kind of telling off and that he shouldn’t hang about as it wasn’t safe. No idea who she was but I have to agree with her on that! Seems like part of the reason he was there was to offer Doyle the body of the Sabbat Ventrue in return for something political I don’t recall. As tempting as Doyle might have found it, he’s far too canny to accept a baited hook from the Viscount!
The last visitor was a traveling Harpy from California and was the most excruciatingly boring person I have ever met. I mean, he was even more boring than Trenchard. Heh, it drove me to go see Tius about something I’d been avoiding facing for most of the night…
…asking him to help me out to get rid of this “Hypervigilance” thing. Not sure I really have full PTSD from that incident in the building site with the mages but it’s pretty much a real problem for me. All the people there at court was pretty much winding me up completely and Arkady continued with his comments relating to me being on combat alert. I’d tried leaving my weapons in the van but it didn’t help. Mostly all it did was remove options for me if something did happen… not that anything did. Anyway, I’ve arranged to meet up with Tius at the pool hall and we can talk about it in private. He’s not going to charge me a boon, but I effectively agreed that if he needed to call in air support I’d come running in.
On a different subject, it’s probably no surprise to anyone, but Doyle seems to take his catholic upbringing seriously. Him and Anna Zafira both had sooty cross marks on their foreheads and I thought it was some mystical mark shit… but turns out its what you are supposed to do on Ash Wednesday. Huh, there you go.
A few funny moments, too. McGregor’s reaction when he found out that Tanis was really Tius was hilarious. He really had trouble coping. Also that Caitiff Quinn apologised for shooting Doyle’s big Gangrel friend in the head. Doyle couldn’t stop laughing.
Quinn might not be Caitiff for much longer, though. He’s been released from Sulli’s case and the Tremere want to get a hold of him because he can do magic. Doyle was pretty cool and gave him a sort-of full disclosure about getting in with the Tremere and underlined that it was Quinn’s decision and he didn’t have to go with them if he didn’t want to.
There was proper business during the night too. Now that the Black Hand are out the way, we.. well, mostly the Sheriff anyway… can concentrate on the Society of Leopold. That drone that got shot down has spooked them all and they’ve gone underground so now we need to find them. Teressa mentioned facial recognition, so that gives me a good opportunity to continue the plan to get access to the city camera feeds and connect them up to The Office. Jon can do his computer magic and set up some facial recognition thing… once Teressa passes us any photos she has of the society members. Xander was looking for some more work, so I pointed him at Teressa as I figure she could make good use of him.
I gave Twig is new ant farm, hehe. He gave me a hug for it, which he considerately asked me if he could do so first. Then he tells me that he’s got no haven to put it in? wtf? He might be staying at an Elysium with Sulli’s permission… assuming my brain worked out what he was talking about properly. Maybe next time he does something for me I’ll get him a camper van.
Dammit, I think I might have to get involved with the Anarch/Camarilla thing going on in Liverpool. Sophia brought to court an Anarch from Ulster. If that’s the support the Liverpool Anarchs are getting then the Camarilla is in trouble. He was basically over to get support for Liverpool becoming a proper barony and making a “stick” threat that the multitude of Irish Anarchs are going to get shipped in as shock troops and then offering a “carrot” with some very tempting comments about smuggling anything you need. I really don’t think I can bring myself to directly support them… but he’s right that the Camarilla haven’t demonstrated that they can keep control of Liverpool. If Sophia hadn’t brought the guy and shoved him in my face I could probably have let it all play out by itself… but now I need to see for myself if the Camarilla in Manchester have the means and will to keep a lid on Liverpool without Glasgow running down there every 5 minutes. If they do? Great, I can give them a short-term hand to get them going and done. If not, I’ll also give them a hand to negociate some kind of agreement with the Anarchs that keeps them contained and doesn’t let the Camarilla get fucked every time they start to get stroppy about tearing down the institution. Fucking pricks.
It also reminds me not to forget about Stranraer. The port is too convenient for the Anarchs to bring in manpower and weapon.
Anyway, the guy was a Brujah and less pushy away from the subject of Liverpool so invited him out for a game of pool before he heads back to Ulster.
Last thing of the night was getting dragged into a group of newbies by Victor who wanted to get some credit with the Prince by hunting down Sabbat stragglers. I was a bit disparaging of their idea to do patrols and I’m laughing at their timing since they waited until the Black Hand were taking out but it’s likely that some Sabbat shovel-heads are still hanging around so I’m not turning down the help. I just hope that they don’t hit the radar of the Society of Leopold… as much as that would help find them I’d rather a bunch of inexperienced kindred didn’t let any Hunters follow them home.
