Thank fuck this court wasn’t like the last one, but it certainly had it’s own uniqueness.
Starts out with a request from Pat, Doyle’s Senschal to escort new Justicar Edelstien, up to the court. Adam Edelstein? Holy crap that’s quite a promotion for little, nervous Adam whose cars I de-bugged not really all that long ago. I hope he’s learned alot since that time he tried to make the court no-weapons and Vint and I cornered him about the aftermath. I can only assume that he’s been sponsored by someone much more powerful whose looking for some kind of puppet. Best of luck with that, Adam!
Don’t know what he was there for, though. I missed that at the start of the court when I was helping Lennox get his security guys set up.
The court was packed but no new kindred showed up. A slight blip when Doyle had forgotten that Clarice had already been introduced and no one could remember when, or if, Tobias Weaver had Introduced himself. All sorted with no hassle, though.
Report to Doyle went fine and he didn’t feel the need to threaten me like last time. Bonus!
But the first thing I heard when I walked in was Doyle announcing that Ricky was dead! Took me a while to get the full story since Doyle was not for giving details. So a load of them had went into what they had thought was the Sabbat hideout in Kelvingrove. When they got through the tunnels, they discovered that he was messily dead and a Sabbat Tzimise had collapsed his ribs into his heart, shredding it. Nasty. So then Doyle frenzies.. and Riley.. and Twig! So everyone jumps in and eventually subdues them but it leaves Teressa, Twig and Doyle in torpor. Somebody was able to wake them up again so all good, but Doyle confirmed what Anatos had said to me when I got him woken up – it’s a shitty experience. Anyway, looks like the Sabbat had just left 15mins before.
Talking about the Sabbat, Doyle managed to get a date and a place for where they are going to be in the next few days. He must have some Sabbat contacts to get that info – and someone who doesn’t like the people we’re going after! Apart from saying that the location is Hamilton, he’s not going to tell us more until the last minute and we’ve not to make any preparations that might warn them. He’d gathered the “A”, “B” and “C” teams, and a few of us randoms, in a big meeting to discuss it. Carter, as disrespectful as he was, had the valid point that we need to plan for our side frenzying. Doyle said that everyone should pile on and that he’d be unhappy if anyone killed. Carter tried to get some wiggle room on self-defense but I don’t know if he spotted that Doyle didn’t really acknowledge that as a valid defense.
But the big thing of the night for us was related to the pawn shop. We found out from Twig from his scrying that the “old man” we’d fought was actually a demon. He was still noncommittal on what to pay him so I talked to Teressa. She suggested things like Kerplunk or similar stuff that relate to chaos… maybe I could make him a big one or make an ant farm or something. The info was worth more to us than just buying something off a shelf so I think I’ll do some craft time this month! Ah fuck… my narrative is wandering… probably because I don’t really want to get to the real mind-fuck of the night…
..so basically I was just standing near the door talking to Victor when I saw Angus restrain James and take him to the floor. Could hear enough of the conversation to find out that he’d Rotszcheked but not enough to know why. I saw this girl over the other side of the room who was acting as if she was part of what happened although no one was really paying her attention. I’d seen her earlier and she looked familiar so I thought she’d been Accepted. Next time I look over, she’s got her hands on Pelican’s shoulders and he is staring into her eyes, transfixed, as she’s talking gently to him. Pelican is a Brujah who’s been about waaay longer than me but her body language is saying that she’s the one in control and I don’t know what she’s doing to him but it had better not end up like James.
So Victor and I march over there, pushing our way past people, and I go up and confront her. Then she turns to me and explains that… I can’t remember the name now.. but she says the name and it’s a Chinese one… this Chinese person says thanks for what we did. Yeah, well, like a hit to the face that one. Looking at Pelican, I can see that he’s starting to tear up from what she said and I kinda realise what’s going on… but not really processing it. My hand is on the stake at my back in case I get even a tiny hint that she was messing with Pelican or any of us. It was probably unfair on the poor girl but I start pushing her… not physically but verbally and probably a bit aggressively… to prove that she’s legit. Pelican isn’t getting a hold of himself so I get him outside – giving myself some space to process what she said at the same time. Victor followed us out – not quite following the implication of what she’d said. Mind you, he hadn’t seen the demon smash the poor Chinese girl’s skull in with an heirloom. Just as well I hadn’t tried to stake her.. she turned out to be a ghoul, and a medium, belonging to one of the Malks.
We still have the pawn shop to clean up. We spend the last few days looking at the evidence so now we need Daniel’s help. The demon left almost 2 years worth of bodies in there and the magic blocking the smell vanished with the old man’s apparent death. I think I’ll also ask Daniel to check us out in case this demon can hop bodies. Pelican and I also drank quite alot of it’s tainted blood when we frenzied. I’ll also set the team.. and Xander… to track down when and how he became a demon.
Other shock news of the night… little Tanis is actually Levi Tius.. looking unscathed rather than dead as he was reported to be. I have no fucking clue what the fuck he is doing alive, back in Glasgow, and swaning about like he’s still a Tremere minion instead of Regent. I mean, I kinda asked him but he wasn’t exactly forthcoming on detail, apart from saying that he’s not going to go for any of his old positions – either Tremere or Prince. He hinted that his plans for the city hadn’t met with universal approval, but I fail to see what difference that should make.
Something else from the night that keeps sticking in my head – just something that Arkady said as I was moving past him through the court. Don’t remember the exact works but it was something like, “You really are the most psycho person here.” I was just going to the other side of the room. What did I do that made me look especially psychotic?!
