Way to go, January. Just how I wanted to kick off the New Year.
In fact, kicking off the whole court was Doyle threatening me. I mean, I understand him being pissed off that his club was destroyed, and being pissed off that none of us spotted it coming and that we all now look like idiots… but I’m doing my best and I’ll find out what happened so fucking threatening me directly to my face just pisses me off. Lucky I’ve done so much fucking introspection this month or I might have tried to rip his face off in the middle of court.
The court was just one pile of shit to deal with after another. Most obvious was the sheer number of kindred visiting, returning and just generally looking for acceptance. We had Cerys and Simeon Seward as returnees, Angus picked up an official from the Helsinki domain from the airport, a new Malkavians Tiresias, an ex-cop Gangrel from Inverness called Xander, a Settite and her Mummy bodyguard up from Manchester.
Looks like Quinn is settling in now that Sully has taken him under his wing. haha, he commented that I was much less threatening compared to last month. Yeah, well, last month he was newly sired orphan who was set to be executed if he didn’t find a sponsor and who’d been looking for Tarquin.
Talking about the Settite… man, they just screamed SUSPICIOUS! She.. name sounded something like Madaline… was cheerful but seemed keen on speaking in unhelpful short phrases in highly accented English. I thought her bandage wrapped companion was human at first – he was warm with a bright aura – but Angus told me that he was some Setite Thaumaturgical creation that was well hard. Lovely. Anyway, they were in less than 10mins before Doyle told them they weren’t welcome and had me and Pelican make sure they left. Thankfully, all we had to do was follow them until we were sure they were on the way out. Presumably they could sneak back in, but it isn’t likely considering they stopped to give us a contact phone number. The theory is that they were from the Setite temple that opened up in Manchester. Let’s hope that their summary ejection wasn’t too offensive. At least the drive back to the court at 120mph was good fun.
Next stressful thing… Doyle basically sacks Riley as Sheriff and puts Teressa in his place. I know that Doyle has been itching to get rid of Riley for a while but seems he had an excuse – Riley totally forgot that we’d told him about the Society of Leopold being in town after the rant. Not that this was published… Riley ended up standing up in front of everyone saying that he had resigned to spent time on other shit. Of course, I gave Pelican the heads-up since Doyle told me that Riley might get fired in with us… and just as I’ve finished talking Riley comes around the corner and complains about Doyle. Man, super awkward.
The Sabbat were obviously the big subject of the night. Looks like the Malks have been narrowing down whatever scry-protected area they are working from. West end, with some speculation about them hiding under an Elysium. Twig is talking about wanting a tank to drive about Kelvingrove Park… I was getting pure flashbacks to having to convince Anatos not to buy a tank! Teressa is all about fighting the Sabbat so she’s getting them all organised. I passed on to her everything I’d been picking up on the subject and said that Pelican and myself are going to Edinburgh to track down the lead him and Victor picked up earlier in the month.
Teressa had a whole load of information for me too. She’s collated information on the Society of Leopold. Looks like that rock ‘n’ roll priest is making an impact and spreading Faith… or some kind of obsession.. around the city. Poor Ana Zaphira has had her ladies getting converted and turned into adoring cultists. But really, what the fuck do you do to get rid of…. oh fuck.. I had a terrible idea. I just remembered those mages who hung out at that internet cafe… I wonder if they are still there…
Anyway, had some good chats with Pelican. I’ve asked him to nudge me if he sees me looking about like everyone is a target, or if I start staring off at nothing. Maybe I can kick this Hyper-vigilance PTSD thing if I know I have got friends at my back!
