Cassidy and Jack have already passed Ritchie’s place on the way south but they stop for Jack to give him a call.
Ritchie seems calm when he answers. When she lets him know why she is calling, he comments that he could just as easily meet her in Manchester but he has a meeting with one Arcady Brocovich to discuss things politely.
Jack: We need to meet Prince Carter before you talk to Arkady.
Ritchie: The meeting with Arkady is not until the 10th.
Ritchie says that Arkady has indicated he has a message for Cassidy and words of him calling a blood hunt on Magnar and all who harbor him have reached his word, thanks to some friends Ritchie has in Glasgow.
Jack: Yeah, I bet he does… We’ll give you the full story when we come down but its more a Brujah matter than it is a Glasgow one.
A growl starts coming into her voice.
Ritchie goes on to tell Jack that it looks like the Masquerade was covered after her and Cassidy’s quick exit from the Glasgow court, but thinly, and some old dude tried to dominate him badly, so he staked him and took him home…
Jack: Shit, Ritchie, that complicates things. What does the guy look like?
Ritchie: Well old, kinda like an annoying geography teacher. Very short hair.
Jack: Could you work out a clan?
Ritchie: Nah, he was wearing a hat. And his face has this whitish tinge to it.
Jack: Oooooh, yeah.
Jack laughs in recognition of the description.
Ritchie: He forced me to go with him, so I staked him and made sure I couldn’t fail on that account, stupid idiot.
Jack: He’s a Malkaian and his name is Turpie. He’s a pain in the arse.
Ritchie: You got that right. Well, I thought I could offer him to Arkady in the negotiations.
Jack: Might work, but Turpie annoys just about everyone. Can you keep a hold of him, for the moment? Cassidy and I have some working out to do about this whole thing. Brujah before Glasgow politics… since Magnar is such a fucking backstabbing idiot.
Ritchie: Sure thing, I am hoping to get Arkady to proclaim that the Anarchs had nothing to do with this take-over plot and that your punishment would neither be fatal nor being bound to anyone. I reckon Magnar is done for, though.
Jack: If nothing else I’ll fucking kill him!
Ritchie: He was pretty damn bad at this and should have seen he had no support.
Jack: You have no idea…. I’ll give you the full details when we next meet.
Ritchie: I got the feeling he is getting tired of existing in a world that scares him and so he had no care on what would happen to him or us.
Jack growls, “No excuse for dishonouring me and the clan.” She pauses, “Really, if we keep talking I’m going to rip this phone off the wall and that would be bad. We should be back in touch in a few nights, hopefully.”
Ritchie: Let me know what I can and cannot offer this Arcady before the night. And keep this number to yourself.
Jack: Absolutely, on both accounts.
Ritchie: Oh, and I can bring a second. Free passage for the entire night has been promised. He is bringing another Ventrue, I said I’d bring another Brujah.
Jack: Thanks for letting me know.
Ritchie: Either you or Cass would be fine, otherwise I am thinking German Ron.
Jack: Good plan
Ritchie: Or Duke, if we need a Camarilla presence.
Jack: I reckon it depends on our discussions with the Manchester prince.
Ritchie: You do that, I’ll hold the fort here in Dumfries, in case they come looking.
Jack: Unlike certain other people, I want a plan before any of us walk into a meeting.
Ritchie: Ring me when you had your chat and come up with something.
Jack: Sorted.
